Victoria's infrastructure strategy 2016

The first statewide, evidence-based infrastructure plan for Victoria  

This is Victoria’s first ever 30-year infrastructure strategy. It is both an aspirational vision and a statewide, evidence-based practical plan covering all types of infrastructure.   

In this first 30-year strategy, we set out a pipeline of projects, programs and policies to help create the best possible future for the state. We aim to make our recommendations specific and workable, outlining key next steps for action.

We promote statewide solutions, but we recognise the challenges for regional and rural areas and their important contribution to Victoria.  

We developed this strategy through a year-long journey with the community. It incorporates findings from our consultation with people and organisations across Victoria. 

Recommendations 

We make 137 recommendations in the strategy. Our recommendations include: 

• new build solutions that could transform how Victorians live and move 
• policy and regulatory reforms that could profoundly change how we behave 
• decisive action on housing density and affordability, transport pricing, communications infrastructure and other important issues.
