I am delighted to now be on board with Infrastructure Victoria as Chief Executive Officer. It’s a busy and exciting time for us as we prepare a 30-year infrastructure strategy for Victoria, to be completed by the end of 2016.
As we develop this strategy we will be consulting with stakeholders and the community to ensure we are focussing on the right things and trying to create the Victoria that people want.
I am keen to see the community at the heart of everything we do, and our consultation process will reflect that.
It’s great to have so many people already engaged in the process. We now have over 1,000 people on our consultation register. Some of the things people have told us through our recent survey they want us to do are:
- take the politics out of long-term infrastructure planning
- be transparent about the process
- communicate and consult widely
- consider the needs of regional communities
- improve strategic and long-term transport planning.
For those of you who haven’t completed the survey, it’s not too late – visit click here to have your say.
The preparation of the 30-year infrastructure strategy is a significant undertaking. Over the coming year we will need to ask some difficult questions and make some tough decisions. This means your input will become even more important.
Later this month we will be releasing our first discussion paper and inviting stakeholders and the broader community to have their say on our draft objectives. Our consultation program will include online activities as well as stakeholder workshops. Keep an eye out for further details on how you can get involved.
Thank you for your support of Infrastructure Victoria’s work. I look forward to working with you throughout 2016 and beyond.
Chief Executive Officer
